Mauna Kea Compound Residence
- Kohala Coast, Hawaii
This expansive new single-family residential family compound takes particular advantage of an extraordinary site perched over the ocean on the lava slope of Mauna Kea, on the big island of Hawaii. The main public living structure commands pride of place at the pool deck, and acts as the locus of social activity. Spinning off in one direction is the Master Suite structure; opposite are three cottages for guests, all with informal interior and exterior spaces oriented to the view. The sloping site dictates the approach from above, where service areas and the parking court are located.
