Mamaroneck Residence
1989 - 1992 - Mamaroneck, New York
Refined details and elegant material handling predominate in this new single-family residential family design. The siting afforded a unique take on the ‘house in the garden' concept, given the suburban surroundings in the Westchester area north of NYC. The main structure commands pride of place at the top of the lawn, and acts as the locus of social activity. Framing the vehicular approach is an artist Studio over the Garage; circulation through the public spaces leads to informal interior and exterior spaces oriented to the view. Extraordinary craftsmanship lends a strong hand to the deft and sumptuous architectural treatment of material and space.
